Fear of Failure
It’s an incredible feeling when your network gathers together autonomously to support you during a new business venture. After one week of launching a poorly described marketing/comms agency, countless kind people have reached out from the spiderweb of my personal and professional past to provide encouragement and offer potential opportunities.
Each message and meeting feels like a gift. But the fear still hits hard.
This week, I’m a bachelor as Katie and the kids are traveling for a family event. The extra space to walk and work in the garden is helpful for ideation, while the silence in our house is deafening. I used to live like this every day, but life changed me and it’s no longer as easy to be alone. Children yelling “daddy, daddy” at my office door might be a little less annoying than I thought.
I am, perhaps, a bit too introspective today, but one of my goals in creating a company is to create a human one. Yes, I’m heavily interested in AI, but that’s merely a first-mile/last-mile tool to help serve customers better.
With these posts, I’d like to share the raw facts surrounding what it is like to start a business. Everyone dreams of doing this, and I have short, but potentially real, flight path to success.
Ultimately, my objective is to provide for my family, but my second goal is to prove to others that it is still possible to create something out of unique skills and ambition.
I hope you will check back often to learn how long this story can last.
